My Top Picks

My Recommendations

If you know me, you know I am someone that is constantly looking to learn as much as I can, and that usually means I’m digging into a new book or two. Here are some of my recommendations on my favorite reads, as well as some other products that I love to use every day.

Atomic Habits

by James Clear

This book isn’t just helpful – it is the BIBLE of everything I believe in. “Atomic Habits” teaches you how to trust in the process and compound your progress every single day. There is a reason why this is the book I mandate every new training class of traders read before they start. Trading is a game of repetition and refinement, and this book helped me understand how to structure my environment and identity to make elite-level habits second nature. It’s not about willpower. It’s about design a set of systems that all but guarantee your success over the long run. Easily the book I’ve recommended and gifted most.

Hedge Fund Market Wizards: How Winning Traders Win

by Jack Schwager

This was the one that got me thinking at the institutional scale. The way these hedge fund legends thought about capital allocation, risk, and portfolio construction—it stretched my brain. It showed me what “big league” actually looks like. There are levels to this game.

Market Wizards, Updated: Interviews With Top Traders

by Jack Schwager

The OG of trading books and the start of the series that made me truly fall in love with trading. Reading “Market Wizards” was like getting mentorship from the best in the world. What struck me was how different all the traders were—some were systematic, some discretionary—but the common thread was process, discipline, and psychological mastery. This book lit a fire in me to chase mastery, not just profits.

One Good Trade by Mike Bellafiore

by Mike Bellafiore

This was the book that made me want to go into prop trading. “One Good Trade” shows you exactly what it is like to work at prop firm and was hugely reflective of what would become my career at Trillium. Even better, shortly after the release of the book, as a young college student I was able to get Bella to come speak to the Indiana University trading club that I was a member of. Who would have ever imagined one day Bella would become a close friend and mentor of mine.

Oura Ring

This isn’t just a sleep tracker—it’s a performance optimizer. It gives you clean, actionable data on your sleep quality, recovery, readiness, HRV, body temperature, and more. The readiness score has become a legit input in how I structure my day—especially around peak trading hours or long runs. There is a reason why I made a push to have traders at SMB Capital wearing these things. Years later, many traders still tell me that improving their sleep didn’t just help their trading, it changed their whole lives for the better.

Peak

by Anders Ericsson

Anders Ericsson is one of the godfathers of deliberate practice and meta-learning. Meta-learning is what a credit my career with helping me go from slow-learner to superstar. This book showed me that deliberate practice—focused, feedback-driven effort—is the real lever for greatness. Everything in my trading career, from journaling to post-trade analysis, is built on this philosophy. It also led to concepts like “the highlight reel” which are discussed in my course.
